KIDERO CALLS FOR TOUGH ACTION ON ODM PARTY OVER ALLEGED VIOLENCE

Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) rebels who are allied to President William Ruto have vowed not to be scared by the continued verbal attacks by allies of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga who have been threatening them from making inroads in the Luo Nyanza Region.

Led by Former Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero, they urged ODM leaders to shift their focus from mourning the defeat of Azimio leader Raila Odinga in the 2022 presidential election and instead engage in negotiations with President William Ruto.

“The UDA party Nyanza branch warns the country that Luo Nyanza is sliding back to the era of one-party monolithic dictatorship. The region is being boxed into a corner where only one political party can thrive by strangling others. That is not how our democracy works. This is how tyranny works,” he said.

Kidero said he will lead UDA leaders from Nyanza to defend at all costs those who were appointed by President Ruto to serve in his government from Luo Nyanza.

“The ODM Party has chosen a path of intimidation, chaos, violence and harassment to stem competition from the UDA Party in Luo Nyanza in particular and the rest of Nyanza in general,” he said.

He called upon the government to quickly investigate the recent conduct of the ODM Party which in their view now borders on criminal actions.
